Houthis demand full control of Yemen’s Central Bank

Alsahwa Net-The Houthis officials demanded the United Nations Special Envoy to Yemen, Martin Griffiths that they manage the Central Bank of Yemen (CBY) independently from the legitimate administration in Aden, the Turkish government-run Anadolu News Agency said.

The rebels who control the dense- populous northern part of the country articulated these demands to Griffith on Wednesday in light of the ongoing armed rebellion by the Emirati-backed Southern Transitional Council (STC) separation militants in Aden and other parts of south Yemen.

The STC forces launched early this month a large-scale armed rebellion in Aden where they seized the state offices and military bases of the international recognized government.

Mohammed Abdulsalam, the Houthis’ Spokesman tweeted on Wednesday 21 August that Griffiths met the Houthis’ leader, Abdulmalik Al-Houthi.

Abdulsalam explained that his group demanded implementation of the Stockholm agreement on Hodeida and to unify state revenues collection by one management.

The government of Yemen said on Tuesday that the rebellion in Aden benefits only the Iran-backed Houthis and vowed to use all means to end the munity initiated by the Emirati-backed separation forces.
