Defense Minister: Aden rebellion inhibits counterterrorism efforts

Alsahwa Net- The Minister of Defense, General, Mohamed Al-Magdashi said on Sunday that Aden acts of rebellion hinder counterterrorism efforts and prvide a chance of expansion to extremist groups.

Al-Magdashi pronounced this during a meeting with the Military Attaché of the United States’ Diplomatic Mission to Yemen, Robert Tembekins.

An Emirati-backed pro-separation rebels took control of Aden on 10 August and drove pro-government forces out of their military camps.

Al-Magdashi said that ongoing security developments in Aden benefit only the Iran-backed Houthis who implement agendas of Iran’s expansion in the region.

He explained that these “illegal acts in Aden obstructs government’s efforts towards normalizing conditions and restoring public services in liberated areas.”

The state-run Saba News Agency reported that the meeting discussed ongoing escalations in Aden which is led by armed groups affiliated to the Southern Transitional Council.

Al-Magdashi appreciated the stance of the United States towards supporting Yemen’s unity and rejection of any coup attempts against President Abd Rabo Mansour Hadi
