Houthis bomb Red Sea Mills again

Alsahwa Net-The Houthis militants have targeted the Red Sea Mills in Hodeida again on Wednesday evening with four mortar-shells that landed few meters away from the silos.

The Houthis have been denying access to the mills since last September amidst UN attempts to resume work at the mills for supplying grains to millions of people in need to food aid.

In May, the Houthis allowed limited number of the UN workers to visit the mills after grains were reported rotten. And the recent target of the mills hinders efforts to resuming work at the mills.

Military sources in Hodeida said that the recent target of the mills by the Houthis came just one week since the management of the mills declared that 90 percent of rehabilitation works have been finished to commence work.

The mills were subject to bombing by the Houthis in the past period that led to the shutdown of the facility.

The UN World Food Program officials who visited the mills in May reported some serious damage that the mills sustained particularly the stored wheat and silos due to the fighting in the area.

Workers of the mills have already finished cleaning stored grains and were about to begin distribution of 55 tons of wheat to the needy people in the Houthis-held areas, military sources said.

The mills can feed over three million people per month if work resumed normally at the facility.
