Houthis mount military actions in Hodeida

Alsahwa Net - The Iran-backed Houthi rebels have sent new reinforcements towards Al-Tuhaita District, south Hodeida governorate. The reinforcements included large number of fighters and military equipment who were stationed in some outskirts of Al-Jablia area.

These military movements by the Houthis coincide with artillery shelling at positions of the national army in the same area. This is happening amidst continued shooting by the Houthis militants against civilians in Hais District and Al-Tuhaita District.

These developments coincide also with new attempts by the UN to implement the Sweden-based agreement on Hodeida that the rebels have been hindering its progress for seven months since signing the agreement.

The Quartet group that includes the UK, USA, Saudi Arabia and the UAE is expected to meet in the upcoming days to set a deadline for implementation of the UN-sponsored Sweden-based agreement on Hodeida, the London-based Asharq Al-Awsat Daily Newspaper quoted an unnamed source from the group on 20 June 2019.
