Initial agreement to resume meetings between Gov’t and Houthis’ teams

Alsahwa Net- After a long suspension, there is an initial agreement to resume the meetings of the teams of Hodeida redeployment, a political source told Alsahwa Net.

“Though there is an initial agreement to resume meetings, the time and place of potential meetings have not been specified”  the source added.

Meanwhile, UN Special Envoy for Yemen Martin Griffiths will carry out visits to Russia, Oman and the United Arab Emirates early of July in an effort to advance the peace process.

Last Wednesday, Griffiths visited the Saudi capital, Riyadh, on Wednesday and met Yemeni officials in an attempt to normalize relations with Yemen government and win back its trust, Yemeni officials told Alsahwa Net.

Government sources said that Griffiths sought to assure the Yemeni government that the United Nations will deal transparently and fairly to implement the peace agreement reached between the Yemeni fighting parties in December 2018.

According to Asharq Al Awsat newspaper, Griffiths’ visit comes a few days after leaked reports that the legitimate government might withdraw from the Stockholm Deal, mainly after Houthi militias launched attacks on Abha civilian airport in southern Saudi Arabia, and continued to violate the truce in the province of Hodeida.
