In meeting with Griffiths, Houthis refuse withdrawal from Hodeida

Alsahwa Net- The Houthis have refused to withdraw from Hodeida and its three ports, well-informed sources.

The sources affirmed that the Iran-backed Houthi rebels circumvent to carry out a fake withdrawal which ensure it to stay inside Hodeida and its ports.

Al-Sharq al-Awsat newspaper reported that the UN Special Envoy Martin Griffiths was engaged in extensive discussions to persuade them to implement the Sweden Agreement.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Muaeen Abdul-Malik and the Swedish Foreign  Minister Margot Wallström on Wednesday discussed political and diplomatic efforts exerted to pressure the Houthis to implement the UN Security Council’s resolutions.

Yemen has demanded the international community to put pressures on the Houthis to save the Stockholm Agreement and implement its outcomes.

Yemen President Abdrabbu Mansour Hadi has said that progress must be made on a peace deal reached in Sweden before a new round of talks can be held.

The international body has been pushing for the implementation of a ceasefire and troop withdrawal from Hodeidah, the main entry port for Yemen’s goods and humanitarian aid.
