Amassed Houthis launch military offensive to break into Taiz

Alsahwa Net- Houthis launched a huge military offensive against Taiz on Friday evening, days after amassing troops and tanks around the southwestern Yemen city they have been besieging for years.

Local sources said the militia of Shia Islamic extremists began advancing and heavily shelling the city from its southeast in a bid to break into its downtown at a time they are expected to start lifting the siege in accordance with a special statement of understanding on Taiz signed with the government in Stockholm on December 13.

Earlier in the day, the militia fired shells into a crowd of protesters in the city center injuring six civilians including two young boys.

Elsewhere in the city's western district of Maqbana, in this same day, the militia killed an 11 year old boy by the name Mohammed Naser Ghaleb (pictured) and injured his six-year-old brother, Ghaleb, in a barrage of artillery shells they fired.

The militia has also reportedly continued its violations of the Hodeidah ceasefire, part of the Stockholm Agreement, by launching a fresh attack against government forces in the Red Sea port city of Hodeidah throughout Friday.
