Yemen prepares to provide file of Iran's violations to UN

Yemen's ambassador to the United Nations Khalid Hussein al-Yamani has revealed that Yemen is preparing to provide an integrated file to the United Nations on violations of Iran and its interventions in Yemen's affairs.

"We are currently preparing the file to be provided to the UN new Secretary General Antonio Guterres" Al-Yamani said in remarks to al-Sharq al-Awsat newspaper, stressing that the international community must put an end to smuggling of weapons to the Houthis and violating the sovereignty of Yemen.

He pointed out that a committee is investigating into the Iranian ships which were captured while carrying weapons to the Houthis. The report also registers mechanisms and forms of smuggling to Yemen.

A UK-based research group has revealed that an arms “pipeline” that extends from Iran to Somalia and Yemen likely exists.

Conflict Armament Research (CAR) suggested in a newly-released report that a significant number of Iranian arms are being transferred to Yemen using dhows.

“CAR’s analysis of the seized materiel … suggests the existence of a weapon pipeline extending from Iran to Somalia and Yemen, which involves the transfer, by dhow, of significant quantities of Iranian-manufactured weapons and weapons that plausibly derive from Iranian stockpiles,” the report published on Wednesday said.
