Protests over currency collapse continue in South Yemen

Alsahwa Net- Protests against the currency collapse and rising prices have been continuing in some southern Yemeni governorates.

Three protesters were wounded on Wednesday during confrontations with security forces in the city of al-Mukla of Hadhramout governorate.

Local sources told Alsahwa Net that security forces intervened in the wake of blocking main roads by outraged protesters in al-Mukla.

The Yemeni rial has lost more than half its value against the US dollar after the Houthi rebels conducted a coup against the legitimate government in September 2014.

The government sought to boost liquidity by printing money but the nation’s currency has continued to plunge.
