VP, FM discuss arrangements for Geneva peace talks

Alsahwa Net- Vice President  Ali Mohsen Saleh and Foreign Minister Khaled al-Yamani on Tuesday discussed in Riyadh the arrangements for the peace talks between the government and the Houthi militia scheduled to be held on September 6 in Geneva.

Saleh hoped that the Houthi rebels will take into consideration the interests of the Yemeni people, stressing that most Yemenis are suffering from their coup.

Meanwhile, a Yemeni officialsrevealed that the Geneva talks will focus on the release of the abductees and enforcedly disappeared persons, prisoner exchange, assistance delivery and salary payment for all government employees, Yemeni presidential sources has revealed.

The official said that the negotiations will go through several stages which include trust building, discussion of key security and political issues and the implementation of the UN Security Council 2216. 

Al-Yamani had said that the negotiations will not be direct and that the UN Special Envoy to Yemen Martin Griffiths will hear and work as a mediator between both sides.

“If there is a hasty progress, then direct negations will be held” al-Yamani added.
