Al-Jaber: Human degradation in Yemen was caused by Houthi practices backed by Iran

The Saudi Ambassador to Yemen Mohammed Al-Jaber, Executive Director of “Isnad” Center for Comprehensive Humanitarian Operations in Yemen said, “We are saying very clearly that the main reason for the current deterioration in the humanitarian situation in Yemen is the Iran-backed Houthi militias that are usurping power in Sana'a."

He said that the Houthi militia have rejected the political solution, which has consequently prolonged the humanitarian crisis in Yemen.

In a news conference in Riyadh held after a meeting with the UN Undersecretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs and Emergency Relief Coordinator Mark Lowcock Al-Jaber said, “The meeting was positive and fruitful. What I heard today is that there has been a significant improvement in the performance of the UN agencies and a significant improvement in the humanitarian situation.”

He added that Riyadh has allowed Yemeni traders to use the Saudi deposit in the Central Yemen Bank to buy basic commodities such as sugar, wheat, edible oils and child food. This will increase the amount of foodstuffs that will reach Yemen, improve the riyal and the economy in Yemen, and start the reconstruction program in many Yemeni provinces, he said.
