Martin informs UNSC he intends to resume Yemeni negotiations next month

The UN Security Council held on Tuesday a closed session on Yemen during which it was briefed by the UN Secretary General's Special Envoy Martin Griffiths on the developments of peace brokerage tour in Sana'a.

Griffiths briefed the session by a video teleconference from Sana'a where had just met Houthi rebel leaders.

He told the Security Council that he intends to resume organizing negotiations between the Yemeni parties next month, according to diplomatic sources.

The sources confirmed that Griffiths informed the Security Council of his meeting with rebel leader Abdul Malik al-Houthi, and his plan to meet Arab Coalition leaders  in the coming days.

The official spokesman of the Coalition confirmed on Monday that the Houthi militia did not respond to Griffiths efforts saying that the attempts to persuade them into peace are still going on.
