After crackdown on militants, Taiz police calls on people to return to their houses

The Director General of Taiz Police has called on the residents of the eastern precinct of Taiz city to come  back to their houses after a crackdown on militants has led to the arrest of a number of them.

Brig. Mansour al-Akahali visited new security deployments in the precinct and told reporters that the crackdown campaign has led to "arresting a number of wanted people and the implementation of the rest stages of the security plan is on progress."

He called on the "residents of the eastern parts of Taiz to come back to their houses" and exercise their daily life.

The central Yemen city of Taiz has for months been seeing a wave of assassinations and executions against government officials, soldiers, activists, mainstream clerics and humanitarian aid workers. The assassinations are blamed on extremist Abu al-Abbas Brigades.
