Army seizes sophisticated Iranian military equipment bound for Houthis

Yemen's army has seized large quantities of Iranian-made equipment left by Houthi rebels as they fled several warfronts in Yemen's western coastline.

Al-Sharq al-Awsat daily quoted the army's spokesman Abduh Mujalli saying that the army seized "Iranian-made" sophisticated landmines, light weapons, wireless telecom sets and even landmine maps and documents indicative of where the rebels plan to strike in government-held provinces.

He said that "the army made a great use of the landmine maps and was able to locate the mines and remove them quickly.

He said that the army's intelligence has gathered information that the rebels have smuggled millions of dollars to the caves of Saadah, the mountainous stronghold of the Shia Islamist extremists.
