Islah mourns Al-Sharjabi, blames Aden security for failure to prevent assassinations

The Yemeni Congregation Reform (Islah) party has condemned the assassination of one of its young members Safwan Al-Sharjabi, a lawyer and a mosque preacher who was shot dead by gunmen in front of his house in the temporary capital Aden on Wednesday night.

The Islah considered Aden Security Department and its director for responsible for their failure to maintain security and protect the lives of its members and protection of its premises.

"The assassination of Al-Sharjabi comes within the series of assassinations of preachers and reformers. The martyr was marked for good traits in his environment, and enjoyed great popularity among the youth of his city," read a statement from the Islah office in Aden.

"The assassination is part of a conspiracy that has been going on against the Islah and its members in the province of Aden for three years. It is the outcome of a widespread and continuous incitement campaign waged against the Islah by hired mouthpieces who had been saturated in violence, exclusion and hatred.
