Disputes escalate between Houthi warlords over financial resource collection

Conflict has escalated between the Houthi militia's warlords over the looting of financial resources in Sana'a and Hodeidah, prompting them yesterday to resort to the armed militia's chief Mahdi al-Mashat to judge who of the figures is entitled to collect the most resources for himself.

While Houthi warlord Hamoud Abbad, the militia's self-proclaimed mayor of the capital, is trying to extract the largest amount of financial resources with a number of militia members who support him, another Houthi rival and tribal leader Haneen Qateena, the militia's "governor" of Sana'a countryside, is trying to take the resources that come from the peripheries of Sana'a, his territory of influence.

According to official sources al-Mashat discussedwith  Qateena, Abbad and others the issue of geographical overlap between the capital Sana'a and the rural Sana'a in terms of revenue collection authority.
