FM: Houthi terrorism negates the simplest principles of coexistence

Foreign Minister Abdul-Malik al-Mekhlafi said that Houthi terrorism negates the simplest principles of coexistence.

Addressing "No Money for Terrorism", an international conference to prevent the financing of al-Qaeda and ISIL held in the French capital 25-26 April, he said that "the Yemeni people are suffering from, besides the well-known terrorist groups such as al-Qaeda, another unprecedented terrorism; the terrorism of the Houthi group, characterized by an extremist ideology and show of racial supremacy. Which negates the simplest principles of coexistence with others."

He said that Yemen was one of the first countries to suffer from the scourge of extremism and terrorism, and severe economic repercussions were caused by terrorism.

He said that the pre-2011 regime "was not serious in fighting terrorism, but employed terrorism to extort the international community and neighboring countries and to maintain its illegal hold on power."

"Then came the notorious coup d'état of 2014which restricted the Yemeni state's abilities to perform its basic functions including fighting terrorism and extremism."
