Al-Sammad's death; A severe blow dealt to Houthi rebel leaders

The Houthi TV channel al-Masira has announced the death of Saleh al-Sammad the rebel group's leader or political otherwise known as the head of the Political Council, the rebel militia's de facto illegitimate governing authority in north Yemen.

Activists have raised the theory of al-Sammad's elimination by a faction inside the rebel group not satisfied with the performance of al-Sammad.

But the Arab Coalition has broadcast a video showing the airstrike operation that killed the rebel leader.

Regardless of who killed him, al-Sammad's death was a severe blow to dealt to the Houthi group, which has declared a state of emergency among its fighters.

Spectators also expect that other key rebel figures could have been killed with him but the rebel group clouds that with secrecy to retain the morale of their fighters on the different fronts.

The rebel group has appointed another militant, Mahdi al-Mashat, as a successor to al-Sammad.
