Saudi ambassador warns of Houthi bombing of 19 oil vessels

Saudi Arabia's ambassador to Yemen, Mohammed Al Jaber has warned Houthi possible bombing of 19 oil tankers they had hijacked in the Red Sea.

The warning came after Houthis' hijacking on Saturday of  19 tankers carrying about 200,000 tons of oil derivatives in the area of Ramy Almkhtaf off the coast of the Red Seaport city of Hodeidah which they control. He said that the rebel militia prevent tankers from entering the port of Hodeidah.

He also sounded the alarm that rebels may impose "royalties of up to $ 1 million for every ship that wants to dock in the port, thus raising funds for their insurgency and perpetuating the war in Yemen."

He pointed out that the rebel militia continues to "starve the Yemeni people, and use the Hodeidah seaport as only a means of war, a source of financial resource to prolong the war and admit smuggled Iranian weapons and missiles into Yemen."
