Human rights Minister: 43,000 people killed and wounded by Houthis

Minister of Human Rights Mohammed Askar said that the crimes and violations of the Houthi militia during the period from January 2015 to February 2018 have killed and injured 43 thousand people, while the number of detainees and those who were forcibly disappeared by the militia amount to 18 thousand people.

Speaking at a ceremony organized by the Yemeni embassy in the French capital Paris, he stressed the necessity of the Decisive Storm military operation which the Saudi-led Arab Coalition launched in 2015, pointing out that the rebel militias' violations increased as they expanded.

He pointed out that the freedom of expression witnessed a major collapse in Yemen after the Houthis' military takeover. More than 80% of the print, audio and written media were seized or shut down, he said.

He noted that the rebels widely practiced the recruitment of child fighters to their ranks.
