Houthis kidnap new journalist in Sana'a

Houthis have abducted a new journalist in the center of the capital Sana'a, in its manhunt for journalists and activists.

No journalist opposed to Houthis remains in the rebels-held north of Yemen but Rashid al-Haddad who has no history of opposing them was seized for no known reason in the capital city. Haddad is from Beit Bows district south of the capital and was arrested by surprise on Saturday morning when he was commuting in the city. The Yemeni Journalists Syndicate has issued a statement condemning the arrest.

Hundreds of activists a dozens of them journalists have been on the run as a result of the Houthi crackdown launched at the beginning of the coup in September 2014. Some of them have been used as human shields and killed in the war raging since March 2015.
