Taiz launches production of crutches as more people lose legs to Houthi landmines

The Center of Prosthetics Limbs and Rehabilitation in Taiz has launched the production of crutches as people who lose their legs or walking ability to Houthi attacks increase in the central Yemen city.

The Center's management launched the crutches production in the presence of a mission from the the Manager of the Health Ministry local office Abdurahim Asamiee and a mission from the using a machine granted by the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) who donated the crutches fabrication machine to the Center.

The machine produces up to 20 crutches a day from polypropylene plastic.

Houthis' landmines alone have killed 615 people and wounded 942 others  in Taiz since 2015. Many soldiers and more civilians lose sustain disabling injuries as a result of Houthi continual rocket shelling into the densely populated city.
