Paramilitary forces in south Yemen disrupt govt functions

Paramilitary forces in south Yemen have been disrupting government officials from pursuing their day-to-day jobs in different locations recently, local sources say.

On Sunday the Shabwani Elite, a paramilitary force, in the southeastern province of Shabwah prevented Transports Minister and local authority officials' convoy from driving toward the province's coastal east of Qana where they wanted to lay the foundation stone for a seaport project.

In the temporary capital Aden, another paramilitary force by the name "The Security Belt" prevented the administrator of Bureiqah District Hani al-Yazeedi and his subordinate employees from entering office on Sunday morning, without explaining why and to the surprise of the employees.
