WHO: Cases of cholera increase to more than 4,000

The World Health Organization (WHO) has announced a sharp increase to more than 4,000 cases of cholera, of which 86 have tested positive for Vibrio cholera in 11 governorates.

WHO announced in a Tweet that these cases had been reported in 11 provinces covering about half of the country.

WHO appealed to the international community to provide about $22m that it said was needed to tackle the outbreak, pointing out that that more than 7.6 million people living in war-torn Yemen are affected by cholera, and that more than three million displaced are vulnerable to this epidemic.
