Yemen diplomats seeking to get Houthis designated a terrorist organization

The Yemeni diplomacy is seeking to unify the international community toward designating the Houthis as a terrorist movement and impose international sanctions on its first-rank leaders. The Saudi Okaz daily reported that "the Yemeni diplomacy is seeking to push for a unanimous UN vote next month on a resolution that designates the Houthis terrorists."

"The resolution will put the top leaders of the rebel militia on the list of the most wanted for genocidal crimes."

The Houthis is a brutally violent Shiit Islamist group that does not believe in democratic governance but a dynastical theocratic rule, and has been waging genocidal offensives in different parts of Yemen since its military coup of September 2014. The militia has killed and maimed thousands of civilians by intentional shelling, landmines, sniper shooting, and city blockades. Yemen's central city of Taiz, still under Houthi siege and shelling, bore the brunt of the Houthi atrocities.
