Govt announces first budget since Houthi coup in September 2014

The Yemeni government has finally announced a budget for this year, 2018, after a three-year pause due to the Houthi coup and uleashed insurgency in September 2014.
In a news conference held in the temporary capital Aden on Sunday Prime Minister Ahmed bin Dghr told journalists that the is YR 978,253,500,000 (nine hundred and seventy-eight billion, two hundred and fifty three million, and five hundred thousand Riyals.) The expenditures are estimated at 1,465, 42,631,000 (one trillion, four hundred and sixty-five billion, forty-two million, six hundred and thirty-one thousand Riyals.) The financial deficit is 33 %.

Bin-Daghr said that it remains an austere budget given the circumstances of coup, insurgency and the fact that half the Yemeni population and quarter the Yemeni land still remain under the rebels' control.
