FM says government has five conditions for any dialogue with Houthis

Foreign Minister Abdul-Malik al-Mekhlafi said "the government has set five conditions for any dialogue with the Houthi militants," the London-based al-Sharq al-Awsat daily quoted him as saying.

The preconditions set out by the newspaper are as follows:

The rebel militia has to:

  1. Stop their atrocities against politicians and civilians in Yemen.
  2. Release all the detainees without exception.
  3. Stop firing missiles and launching missiles and keeping blockades against cities.
  4. Allowing humanitarian aid an unhindered access to the citizens.
  5. To be clearly and honestly ready to abide by the three terms of reference for peace. For peace talks have to be based on them only.

He said that the GPC party embattled by the Houthi rebel militants will be one of the stakeholders in any peace talks.
