Reform: If the state is not back the political parties have no worth

In an interview with the Saudi al-Ekhbaria TV channel on Sunday, the Deputy Director General of the Yemen Congregation for Reform party Adnan al-Odeini said that "if the [Yemeni] state is not back, the political parties have no worth."

The interview revolved around Wednesday's meeting between the chief of the party with Saudi and UAE leaders on Wednesday and the party's potential role in backing the Yemeni government's and Arab Coalition's battle against Houthi radical rebel fighters.

Al-Odeini said the meeting "had focused on several issues related to supporting the legitimate government and to unraveling the misunderstandings [in the Gulf] about the Reform party."

"It took place within the framework of supporting the government and ending the coup d'état," he said of the landmark meeting.

"It is the national army's battle and the political parties' role is restricted to political and media support," he said.
