Yemen's Saudi-led coalition has reported that Aidarous Al-Zubaidi, head of the Southern Transitional Council, fled Aden port by ship to Somaliland, Somalia, on January 7, 2026.

The vessel, BAMEDHAF, was tracked to Berbera port, where Al-Zubaidi boarded an Ilyushin Il-76 aircraft.

The plane took him to Mogadishu and then Abu Dhabi, with Emirati officials aiding his escape.

The coalition's spokesman, Turki al-Maliki, provided details of Al-Zubaidi's escape, citing intelligence information.
