The government in Yemen has strongly condemned the death of citizen Shawqi Mahmoud Al-Karabi, who passed away due to serious health complications resulting from years of systematic torture and cruel treatment in Houthi militia detention.
Minister of Information Muammar Al-Eryani emphasized that Al-Karabi's death represents a new chapter in the systematic violations suffered by thousands of abductees and forcibly disappeared persons in Houthi detention centers.
The Ministry of Human Rights has documented over 350 cases of killing under torture in Houthi detention centers, along with 32 cases of physical liquidation and 31 deaths due to medical negligence.
Al-Eryani called on the international community to take concrete steps to end the suffering of thousands of Yemeni families and restore dignity to the victims of torture and enforced disappearance.
The government has urged the United Nations and relevant international organizations to condemn the crime, pressure the Houthi militia to release all abductees, and dispatch fact-finding committees to document violations and bring those responsible to justice.
