Yemen's Lost Joy: How War and Hardship Stole Eid's Happiness

In Yemen, Eid al-Fitr is not the happy time it used to be. Years of war and economic hardship have made life very difficult for many families.

Umm Mazen, a mother of seven, can't afford new clothes or sweets for her children. "Eid is now a time of worry, not joy," she says.

Fairoz Al-Ghazi, a journalist, lost her son in the war. "The war has broken our hearts," she says. "We used to love Eid, but now it reminds us of what we've lost."

Many Yemenis are struggling to survive. The war has destroyed the economy, leaving millions without food, water, or healthcare.

But even in these hard times, people are finding ways to help each other. Community groups are giving food, clothes, and other essentials to those in need.

Boshra Al-Muzajji, who runs one of these groups, says, "We're doing what we can to help. It's not much, but it shows we care."

As Yemenis celebrate another sad Eid, they hold onto hope that one day peace will return and their country will prosper again.
