A Yemeni officer exiled to Syria was found on Sunday after being disappeared in the prisons of Bashar al-Assad's regime in Syria since 2012.
The American Center for Justice (ACJ) said it had found Yemeni expatriate Hassan Mohammed Yahya al-Wahib, one of the Yemeni officers missing in Syria since 2012, in a Damascus hospital in a poor health and mental state requiring medical attention.
The center said that the Yemeni government and through its embassy in the Jordanian capital Amman have made efforts in following up the file of the Yemeni abductees and communicating with the transitional government in Syria to access Wahib.
It called for immediate steps to be taken to repatriate him and ensure the provision of necessary medical and psychological care to him and the continuation of the search for the rest of the hostages, stressing the need to intensify efforts by the Yemeni government and the relevant authorities in the Syrian transitional government to return them to their homeland.
According to the center, the fate of the rest of the missing officers in Syria remains unclear, until now, namely: Mohamed Abdo al-Maliki, Ali Hussein Salama, Hani Saleh Nizar, Ahmed Ali Radman, and Dr. Riad Al-Omaisi.
