The Houthi militia continues to exploit and illegally take charge of mosques with the aim of spreading sectarian ideas in various districts of Ibb Governorate, in light of the harassment it practices against preachers and mosque preachers.

Local sources said that the Houthi militia has recently intensified its pressure on the director of a Qur’an teaching center in Al-Sabil area, west of the city, with the aim of seizing the mosque and turning it into a Houthi center to teach sectarian pamphlets.

The sources said that the militia sends a preacher to Sheikh Shaif Al-Khatib's mosque on a weekly basis with the aim of preaching on Al-Khatib's behalf, and otherwise persecutes the preacher.

During the past months and years, the Houthi militia took control of Sharia teaching schools in various directorates of the governorate, and worked to establish many sectarian centers to teach Shiit sectarian curricula amid widespread community rejection.
