Fadhael: Agreement between the government and Houthis to exchange over 800 prisoners

Majed Fadayel, a member of the government's supervisory committee for the exchange of prisoners and abductees, said that the Geneva negotiations led to an agreement between the government and the Houthi militia to release more than 800 prisoners and abductees.

"The deal includes more than 880 prisoners and abductees, as a first stage, followed by stages, leading to total release on the basis of the all-for-all basis," Fadhael said in a tweet on Twitter.

He explained that the deal included the four journalists sentenced to death, a number of military and civilian leaders, dozens of other death sentenced prisoners, and a number of prisoners from the Arab coalition.

The deal also included, according to Fadhael, the brother of the former president, Major General Nasser Mansour, the former Minister of Defense, Major General Mahmoud al-Subaihi, the children of former Vice President Lieutenant General Ali Mohsen, and the children of the deputy head of the Presidential Leadership Council, Brigadier General Tariq Saleh.

The deal ignored Islah's senior official Muhammad Qahtan and Brigadier General Faisal Rajab, who are covered by UN Security Council Resolution 2216, which calls on the Houthi militia to immediately release them without preconditions.

The Islah Party had considered the continued disappearance of politician Muhammad Qahtan by the Houthis as "unacceptable", criticizing " the facilitating party in the negotiations for not practising sufficient pressure on the Houthis as a natural right."
