GCC calls for firm actions to stop Houthis’ attack on Marib

Alsahwa Net- The Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) called on the international community to take firm actions to halt the Houthis’ attacks on Marib and force them to engage in the peace process.
The Secretary General’s Office of the GCC condemned the Houthis’ constant attacks on civilian objects in Saudi Arabia by using missiles and uncrewed aerial vehicles.
It said that such acts threaten security of the region.
It affirmed its support to all steps taken by Saudi Arabia to maintain its security and integrity of its territory.
Secretary General of the GCC, Nayf Al-Hajri said in a statement that the GCC welcomes the join statement released by the United States of America (USA), China, France, Russia, Germany, Kuwait, Sweden and the European Union (EU) which expressed concerns to the Houthis’ attack on Marib that hinders the UN-led peace efforts to end the crisis.
He expressed his hope that the joint stance of those countries contributes at creating a good environment for the implementation of the call by the UN Envoy to Yemen to parties to meet and discuss sustainable ceasefire mechanism and confidence building measures.
These steps will pave the way for holding new peace talks to reach an inclusive political solution based on the Gulf power transition initiative, its implementation mechanism, the national dialog conference document and the UN Security Council Resolution No. 2216, according to the GCC official.
He affirmed on the GCC’s position on supporting the UN-led efforts aimed at ending the crisis in Yemen by a political resolution.
He called on the international community and the UN to assume their responsibility towards the environmental and economic disaster that may result from the explosion of Safer tanker in the Red Sea.
He called on exercising more pressures on the Houthis to permit the UN experts access the tanker and assess its condition.
