Alsahwa Net- The government of Yemen informed on Monday the United Nations (UN) Special Envoy to Yemen, Martin Griffiths, its rejection of his recent proposal draft to a comprehensive peace.
It said that terms of the new draft violate Yemen’s sovereignty and overstep the bounds of Griffiths’ mission.
The government criticized Griffiths’ insistence on legitimizing the Houthis’ acts and supporting them at various international platforms by constant submission to their illegal demands.
The government’s spokesman, Rageh Badi, said in a quote to the London-based Asharq Al-Awsat daily Newspaper that “We officially informed today the envoy that his recent proposal draft that we received on 30 June, oversteps the bounds of his mandate and violates the government's sovereignty.”
Griffiths met two weeks ago the President of Yemen, Abd Rabo Mansour Hadi and handed the government a draft of the joint declaration on an inclusive peace following amendments requested by the Houthis.
“We questioned his [Griffiths] insistence on supporting the Houthis and his continuous relenting to their illegal demands,” he added.
