Alsahwa Net - The Yemeni government condemned on Friday the Houthis’ failed attempt to target international commercial vessels in the Red Sea and Bab Al-Mandab using two waterborne-improvised explosive devices.
Information Minister, Muammar Al-Eryani said that the continued threat of Iranian-backed Houthis militia to international shipping lines in the Red Sea and Bab Al-Mandab using remote-controlled explosive boats and waterborne-improvised explosive devices forms an act of terrorism that poses a threat to international trade, security and peace.
Al-Eryani considered such attempts a literal implementation of the threats articulated once by leaders of the Iranian regime’s leaders and the Iranian Revolutionary Guard to block the Red Sea and Bab Al-Mandab in front of oil tankers and international commercial vessels.
He said that such acts confirm the Houthis’ affiliation to Tehran.
Al-Eryani called on the international community and the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) to condemn these terror practices and take a firm stand against destabilizing activities by the Iranian regime in the region.
He asked for support to the government of Yemen to restore the state, security and stability, combat terrorism, secure international shipping lines, and provide a decent life for Yemenis, as the state-run Saba news agency reported.
The Saudi-led coalition announced on Thursday destruction of two booby-trapped boats belonging to the Houthis, nearby Al-Salif Port in Hodeida on the Red Sea.
