STC seeks expansion in new areas

Alsahwa Net- Tension still runs high between the government forces and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) pro-separation militants known as the Southern Transitional Council (STC).
The London-based Asharq Al-Awsat Daily Newspaper said that the STC resumed anti-government security escalation in Abyan, Shabwa and Socotra.
Local sources quoted by the Asharq Al-Awsat said that the STC plans to take control of these three governorates through its new anti-government escalation.
The STC forces have also reinforced their presence in Zinjibar and Jaar of Abyan, south Yemen.
Local sources said that the STC affiliated militants occupied the police headquarters in Socotra following dismissal of the security chief by President Abd Rabo Mansour Hadi.
Tension still runs high in Socotra amidst efforts by local mediators to avoid any armed clashes between the STC rebels and the government forces.
The STC took control of Aden and other key southern areas on 10 August 2019 following armed confrontations with the government forces.
