Yemen and Turkey discuss cooperation on fishery sector

Alsahwa Net- Fahd Kefayen, Minister of the Fishery Wealth discussed on Saturday with the chief of the Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TİKA) aspects of cooperation between his ministry and the Turkish agency on training Yemeni fishermen and maritime researchers, the state-run Saba News Agency reported.
The two officials have also discussed supporting the Yemeni fishermen with better-off businesses and fishery facilities rehabilitation.
Kefayen has appreciated efforts exercised by TIKA in terms of providing humanitarian support to Yemen particularly on the fishery sector.
Kefayen had also a meeting with the Director of the Fisheries Unit in Turkey, Mustafa Yilmaz. Kefayen and Yilmaz discussed activation of mutual agreements between Yemen and Turkey on the fishery sector.
Kefayen had also another meeting with the Deputy President of the Turkish Red Crescent seeking support for displaced fishermen in Yemen with fishing tools to resume their fishing activities.
The ongoing fighting in Yemen led to massive displacement by fishermen causing loss of their main income.
