Yemen government decries Houthi stealing of relief

Alsahwa Net-Local Administrative Minister Abdul-Raqeeb Fatah has affirmed that the Yemeni government would not accept the continuing stealing of relief and assistance by the Houthis.

He further criticized the silence of the international community towards the Houthi acts, stressing that the Yemeni people are subjected to the Houthis’ continuing terrorism and crimes.

Media reports have revealed stealing of food assistance by the Iran-backed Houthi rebels.

According to CNN, the Houthis steal food assistance on a scale far greater than has been reported before.

A CNN undercover investigation has found dozens of areas in the war-torn country where -- on paper -- aid has been delivered. But in reality, many families are not being helped.

According to sources of the Houthi-run Health Ministry in Sana’a, the Houthi rebels have been accused of looting millions of dollars worthy humanitarian assistance, which were allotted to workers in health centers in the areas run by the Houthis,.

The sources affirmed that Houthi leaders could falsify documents and thus received financial amounts allocated for health workers from international organizations.

The sources affirmed that most Yemeni health workers do not receive any salaries and that caused the closure of many health centers, pointing out that Houthi leaders are selling medical supplies and medicines.

Moreover, The UN World Food Programme accused last month the Houthis of looting trucks of assistances provided to the Yemeni hungry people.

WFP demanded an immediate end to the diversion of humanitarian food relief in Yemen after uncovering evidence of the practice in the capital Sana’a and other parts of the country controlled by the Houthi Movement”.
