Alsahwa Net- The spokesman of the Yemen’s National army, Abdo Mujali said on Thursday that the government’s forces will respond to the Houthis’ attacks in Hodeida.
Mujali explained that the Houthis mounted their attacks against the government’s forces sites and civilians’ areas.
He noted that the military escalation by the Houthis is taking place in Hodeida amid silence by the United Nations (UN).
“The army will not allow the rebels to capture the government’s forces sites,” the London-based Asharq Al-Awsat Daily Newspaper quoted Mujali.
The Houthis never respected the ceasefire in Hodeida and continued breaching the humanitarian pause with no strict stance by the UN towards the Houthis’ escalation, according to Mujali.
He added that the Houthis targeted the government’s forces throughout Hodeida particularly in Al-Tuhaita, Al-Duraihmi and Al-Faza which are adjacent to the Houthis’ positions.
Additionally, the Houthis brought new fighters into the city of Hodeida and reinforced their militants with medium and light weapons, Mujali said.
He highlighted that the Houthis-affiliated militants have dug new trenches and deployed snipers on roofs of buildings in Hodeida city.
He held the UN accountable to consequences of the Houthis’ escalation as it did not exercise any pressure on the Houthis to implement the Stockholm agreement on Hodeida.
