UN Envoy hails cooperation of Yemen government regarding UN suggestion

UN Envoy to Yemen Esmail Ould Cheikh Ahmed has lauded the positive cooperation of Yemen government regarding the UN suggestion of surrendering Hodeidah port.
During the presence of a meeting in the Arab League on Yemen on Monday, Ould Cheikh Ahmed said that Hodediah port should be run by a third, neutral party, under U.N. supervision.
He pointed out that Yemen is currently witnessing a number of crises which affected most population, affirming that 18,000,000 Yemenis are suffering from the lack to food security.
He cited that cholera broke out in Yemen, demanding all Yemeni parties to cooperate with the United Nations to alleviate the suffering of Yemenis.
According to UN officials, more than 10,000 people have been killed in the war, while more than 11 percent of the country’s population has been displaced as a direct result of the conflict.
