Alsahwa Net-Spokesperson of the US Department of State said on Monday that the Houthis militia is not serious about peace in Yemen and asked for change of its behavior.
The unnamed US official who was quoted by the London-based Asharq Al-Awsat daily Newspaper, said that Washington’s policy on Yemen remains unchanged on working with other international partners for peace, prosperity and security in Yemen.
He added that the US continues supporting efforts by the United Nations (UN) Special Envoy to Yemen, Martin Griffiths and Yemen’s neighbors on bringing warring parties into a political agreement.
He said that sustainable solution requires all warring parties to concede and that ongoing efforts focus on supporting inclusive political agreement to resolve the conflict and put an end to the bad humanitarian situation.
He emphasized that Iran’s supply of deadly weapons to the Houthis escalates the ongoing conflict and aggravates the humanitarian situation.
“The Houthis must stop arbitrary arrests, attacks on civilians and infrastructure, shipping lines and stop working for the Iran’s Revolutionary Guard that we designated as a foreign terror organization,” the US official said.
He indicated that the Iran’s regime smuggled last month Hassn Irlou, a member of the Iran’s Revolutionary Guard to Sana’a.
“These acts suggest that the Houthis are not serious about the peace in Yemen,” he said.
