Alsahwa Net- The Yemeni Journalists Syndicate (YJS) appealed to all parties to immediately free all arbitrary detainees who live in miserable conditions amidst fears of the coronavirus spread.
It denounced the rejection by the security apparatuses in Sana’a to release two detained journalists whose freedom were ordered by the Houthis-affiliated judiciary authority.
The Houthis’-run prosecution ruled that Salah Al-Qaedi and Abdulhafed Al-Samadi can be released on bail as no evidence were obtained against them.
The YJS held the Houthis accountable to safety of the detained journalists as they refuse implementation of the release orders.
It renewed calls on all local and international organizations concerned with the freedom of expression to support the detained journalists until they are released.
The Houthis have been detaining over 14 journalists in Sana’a for over five years because of their writings against the Houthis’ coup.
The detained journalists have been vulnerable to excessive physical and psychological torture and were banned visitations and medical care.
