Alsahwa Net- Minister of the Middle East Affairs of the United Kingdom Foreign Office, James Cleverly, demanded on Monday the Houthis to comply with requirements of the United Nations (UN) and humanitarian NGOs to allow humanitarian access to the vulnerable people.
Cleverly said that potential COVID-19 spread represents a threat to Yemen, and this requires cooperation by parties to the conflict to reach a political solution.
He added that the UK supports efforts by the UN Special Envoy to Yemen, Martin Griffiths to resolve the crisis.
The World Health Organization (WHO) and the local health authorities confirmed on Wednesday that the country remains free of any COVID-19 confirmed case.
Yet, the WHO said that it scaled up efforts with the health authorities in Sana’a and Aden to raise preparedness and response in the event of any case is confirmed.
A quarantine facility has been already established in Aden by support from the WHO to ensure preparedness and response in the event any COVID-19 case is confirmed.
It said last Monday that COVID-19 medical supplies including personal protective items for health workers and lab screening tests were delivered to Yemen.
