Houthis detain Imam in Sana’a

Alsahwa Net- A group of the Houthis’ gunmen stormed Al-Shawkani Mosque in the Ring Road Quarter of the capital Sana’a, detained Imam of the mosque and his brother and took them to an unknown detention site.
Alasima Online news website reported that the Houthis broke into the mosque, stormed house of the Imam, Sharaf Al-Fata, detained him and his brother.
Following their takeover of the capital Sanaa in September 2014, the Houthis have been carrying out massive arrests of civilians and community leaders suspected of being dissidents to their rule.
Imams of mosques were not excluded from the Houthis’ crackdown on activists and suspected opponents.
Hundreds of Imams were subjected to abduction, torture or forcible displacement to the government’s held areas.
Local human rights organizations documented scores of mosques that at were set on detonation because Imams of those mosques used to disagree with the Houthis leaders on some religious issues.
