Houthis intensify abuses against civilians in Hodeidah

The army's spokesman army, Brigadier General Abdu Mujalli said the army has observed Houthi acts of sabotage in Al-Dreihmi district in Hodeidah province. The rebel militia cut the drinking water supply line that feeds Al-Dreihmi, booby-trap homes to prevent civilians from displacement and commit lots of abuses.

The Houthi militia are taking civilians as human shields to prevent the Yemeni army from advancing, he said.

Meanwhile a military operation launched by the army with backing from the Arab Coalition in June to retake Hodeida from Houthis has been suspended to give the UN peace mediator to Yemen a chance to broker the peaceful withdrawal of Houthis from the city.
