Arab Coalition says AP reporter reflected own opinion in Yemen investigation

The Arab Coalition helping restore the Yemeni government to power said the Associated Press's recent investigation entitled "US allies, al-Qaida battle rebels in Yemen" reflects the personal opinion of the reporter."

The AP published this week an "investigation" where it by it said "the coalition cut secret deals with al-Qaida fighters, paying some to leave key cities" and even recruited hundreds more militants "to join the coalition itself."

"The narrations and inferences made (in the investigation) are wrong and reflect the personal opinion of the writer," responded the Coalition's spokesman Col. Turki al-Maliki a in press statement from the Saudi capital Riyadh. He said the AP's claims are "based on no evidences and persuasive facts." "The writer should have verified authenticity, accuracy professionalism  by (also) contacting the command of the combined forces to know about the Coalition's efforts in fighting terrorism," he said.

He affirmed that "the Coalition is waging a war on the terror organizations in Yemen, AQAP, ISIL terror organization and the terrorist Houthi militia, which all share the extremism of ideology and indisposition to coexist with the others."

The AP's "investigation" presents the conflict on the ground as between Houthis one side and al-Qaeda-infiltrated "militias" on the other.
