The Yemeni Congregation for Reform (Islah) party in Hadhramout province condemned the continued detention of Professor Awadh al-Dokeil, a member of the Islah's Executive Office in the eastern Yemen province.
Al-Dokeil was arrested in his house on the morning of June 10, 2016 without charge or legal justification. He is still in detention until now despite the issuance of a warrant for his release by the competent court in Hadhramout and the completion of all the legal procedures for his discharge from jail in March. .
The Islah said in a new statement: "From the first moment of al-Dokeil's arrest, we have been contacting the local authorities in the province and representatives of the Arab Coalition and we and al-Dokeil's relatives received repeated promises .that he would be released within a few days, or even a few hours, but to no avail.
"However, after the issuance of the release warrant … , there is no longer any moral justification for the continuation of his detention. It is a flagrant violation of justice and the most basic human rights."
"We call on the local authorities in HadHramout to quickly release al-Dokeil and all detainees who have been ordered to be released," read the statement.
