Human Rights Ministry: Govt won't be lenient with human rights abuses

 

The Ministry of Human Rights has reiterated that the government won't it be lenient with human rights violations and will hold human rights abusers accountable no matter their positions.

The Ministry of Human Rights has issued a statement days after the director of the African Immigrants Center in Aden was held by the government for interrogation after allegations that he had commited abuses including rape against immigrants.

Following the alleged abuse issue, the government has set up a government committee that transferred the abused immigrants to a safe place, got the alleged abuser held for interrogation, and started investigations into the claim. 

Human Rights Watch was the organization that had reported the claims of abuse.

The ministry stressed the government's keenness to continue its contacts with the international organizations including HRW to ensure that such violations don't happen again.
